Dr. Sulsenti's functional medicine lab testing aims to reveal possible root causes of health issues.

Functional Medicine Lab Tests

Our lab testing is unique due to both the incredible accuracy and extensive ability to go beyond health symptoms to determine the cause of your health concerns. You have the option to discuss during your consultation which tests best fit your needs or to order tests on your own by visiting our lab test shop.

Not sure what lab tests are right for you ?

Simply book a consultation to discuss your health concerns and each lab test in depth. Doing so will allow us to create a nutrition game plan that fits your health needs so you can get better.

Most Popular Test (yes, there are more!)

Wheat, Gluten and Leaky Gut Testing

Our wheat sensitivity panel includes celiac and non-celiac gluten disorders, and intestinal leaky gut. This test will provide an understanding of whether you have a sensitivity to wheat and gluten. You will also be tested for celiac and how permeable (meaning how much your gut allows particles to leak out) your gut walls are. This test will tell you if you have a leaky gut, which can be the cause of many health issues.

Food Sensitivity Testing

Food sensitivities are your body’s response to certain foods that can occur hours to days after they are consumed. Your immune system reacts to food sensitivity with IgG and IgA immunoglobulins. Our food sensitivity panels determine the IgG and IgA levels in over 180 foods to provide you with a deeper understanding of what foods your body may be sensitive to. We also relate this to a possible leaky gut issue, which can be the root cause of food sensitivities.

Food Additive Testing

The Food Additives panel includes 57 of the most common food additives used in food farming, manufacturing, and processing such as fluoride, titanium dioxide, lecithin, polysorbate 80, MSG, sodium citrate, 15 food dyes and coloring, BPA, latex, guar gum, xanthan gum, carrageenan, glyphosate, deltamethrin, BHA, BHT, citric acid, formaldehyde, sodium benzoate, sodium nitrate, artificial sweeteners, stevia, monk fruit, xylitol, erythritol and more! Food Additive testing can be very useful to help determine the true cause of the sensitivity and prioritize an elimination or rotation diet to reduce symptoms related to food additive sensitivities

Gut Microbiome Testing

Our Gut Microbiome panel uses advanced stool testing to analyze over 100 beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract, helping identify imbalances and guide personalized probiotic and nutrition recommendations. The test also includes digestive and longevity markers, a pathogen screen for harmful bacteria, parasites, and yeast (including Candida), and a comprehensive neurotransmitter panel measuring 28 markers to assess how gut health may be influencing mood, stress, and overall well-being.

Micronutrient Testing

Our Micronutrient panel detects intracellular and extracellular micronutrients that provide a short-term and long-term understanding of your vitamin, mineral, and nutrient status. We test over 30 vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, including an iron panel and omega fatty acids. This test will provide you with an accurate report of your vitamin, mineral, and nutrient deficiencies within your cells, which you can balance once you know what your deficiencies are.

Hormone & Adrneal Testing

Our hormone panel gives you a complete picture of how your hormones, stress signals, and daily rhythms are working together. It brings sex and adrenal hormones, metabolism pathways, cortisol timing, melatonin, endocrine disruptors, oxidative stress, and bone turnover into one clear report. These insights help you and your provider understand what drives shifts in energy, mood, sleep, cycles, and metabolic balance and build a focused plan that supports long-term hormonal resilience.

Complete Thyroid Testing

Our full thyroid panel testing does not leave out any portion of thyroid testing as many medical labs do. This provides a thorough understanding of your thyroid function. This test includes T3, Free T3, TSH, RT3, T4, Free T4, Anti-TPO, and Anti-TG as opposed to many medical labs that only include a T3 and maybe a TSH and/or T4. This test is so successful in our office in detecting underlying thyroid issues that are being missed in the medical area, because it is a FULL thyroid panel test, not leaving out any aspect needed.

MTHFR Genetic Testing

MTHFR mutation is a genetic mutation that is inherited by your parents. There are a few variations of this mutation that carry their own risks. Having an MTHFR mutation reduces the body’s ability to convert synthetic folic acid to active folate. As a result of this reduced ability, the metabolism, and status of many nutrients, such as B12, B6, glutathione, and homocysteine, can suffer gravely, leaving severe deficiencies. Certain health issues are linked with MTHFR, as well. Knowing if you have an MTHFR mutation and if so, taking the proper nutritional measures can drastically improve health-related issues.

Methylation GeneticTesting

Methylation is a vital process that supports detoxification, energy production, brain and nervous system function, and gene regulation. Our Methylation panel evaluates your genetic variations, including common SNPs in MTHFR, COMT, MTRR, BHMT, and other methylation-related genes. It also measures key nutrient markers like homocysteine, folate, and vitamin B12 to give a complete picture of your methylation status. With this test, you’ll learn how your body processes methyl groups, which are critical for detoxification, neurotransmitter balance, and cellular repair.

Heavy Metal Testing

Our heavy metal test is a urine-based assay testing the 20 most common heavy metal elements, with options for provoked and non-provoked ordering, including, but not limited to, aluminum, arsenic, barium, cadmium, lead, mercury, nickel, tellurium, thallium, tin, and uranium.

Mycotoxins Testing

The Mycotoxins panel measures levels of toxins produced by common molds that people are exposed to. Mycotoxin exposure can come from both dietary and environmental sources. Dietary sources include spoiled or rotten foods, grains, dried fruits, nuts, coffee, and spices. Environmental sources include living or working in water-damaged buildings, airborne or physical contact with outdoor molds, and airborne dust in buildings containing mold spores. If you were diagnosed with or suspect toxic burden, impaired immunity, autoimmune disease, or mold exposure, this panel may benefit you.

Organic Acids Testing

The Organic Acids test detects the organic acids in urine that are byproducts of daily cellular metabolism. The panel can accurately identify conditions associated with genetic disorders, nutrient deficiencies, intestinal dysbiosis, and toxicity from diet and prescription drugs. The Organic Acids panel is designed to take a broad look at multiple systems and get a snapshot of how the body is functioning.
