How to Be a Healthy Superhero

in Autism Challenges, Happy and Healthy

As many of you may know, it is my mission to create healthy and thriving families, tackling chronic health conditions and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I do this by teaching them my secret formula, The Kind Gut.™ Along this journey of helping others, I was asked to be a contributing author of The Autism File Magazine which is how I was blessed to meet their Executive Editor of The Autism File magazine, Rita Shreffler.

Rita is also a founding board member of the National Autism Association and serves as the Director of Communications for The World Mercury Project. She earned her BA and MA from the University of Missouri, and has worked in advertising and public relations for The Kansas City Star and The Daily Oklahoman. She has spent the past 15 years working to build public awareness of the relationship between increased toxic exposures to children and the development of neurological disorders such as autism and ADHD, working at state and national levels towards the removal of mercury from vaccines. Rita has been interviewed by numerous newspapers and magazines including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Mother Jones and has provided background research for Meet the Press and In These Times.

Rita’s passion and intellect for vaccine safety surpasses the dogmatic medical approach. Unfortunately as you read our interview below, she was thrown into the world of autism and vaccine injury as a mother entrusting her medical doctor’s vaccination treatment for her children. It was the not knowing the dangers of vaccination and the results her children endured which led her to the strong leader and protector for ALL she is today.

I hope you take some time to enjoy our interview together. In doing so, click on links provided to grab more support and help from her works.

Share your story, telling us what you do, what your passion is and why you do it?

Both of my children, now 24 and 23, were injured by vaccines at around 18 months of age. My son, the oldest of the two by 17 months, was born in complete good health, meeting all his developmental milestones, often ahead of schedule. His regression following the receipt of seven vaccines at the same time was too gradual for me to pinpoint the cause. Had there been an immediate reaction, I would have likely been able to save my daughter from the same vaccine injuries she later suffered. She also was born healthy in every way.

Seeing what happened to my children led me to extensive research at both the library and online. I came into contact with many parents around the world who had witnessed similar adverse vaccine reactions in their children. After years of attending conferences around the country and expanding my network of incredible parents of vaccine-injured children, I got to know Polly Tommey, founder and editor-in-chief of the Autism File. I started working with her in 2010 and have been the executive editor ever since.

Last summer, I was contacted by two of my good friends, fellow parents and vaccine safety advocates Lyn Redwood and Laura Bono, who had recently joined the World Mercury Project team as Executive Director and Director of Marketing respectively. We began to brainstorm on the collaborative possibilities between the magazine and the World Mercury Project which led to an interview I did with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. It was clear we shared many of the same goals and one thing led to another. I now serve as the Director of Communications for the organization and am excited about the work ahead to shine much-needed light on vaccine injury and the corrupt government agencies working in collusion with Pharma and mainstream media to hide the truth from the public.

While I cannot undo the damage done to both of my children and countless others, my hope is that we can spare future generations from exposure to toxic vaccine ingredients.

What is your favorite aspect of your work?

I’m honored to work with so many intelligent, dedicated, and compassionate people. The incredible parents and professionals who contribute content to the magazine and those who are the driving forces behind the World Mercury Project humble and inspire me.

Can you give us an example of one of your healthy eating tips that you do that helps you balance a healthy lifestyle, work and family.

I’m at the computer a lot and become so absorbed in writing and editing that sometimes I forget to eat at all. It’s easy to just grab the first thing I see and take it right back to the computer with me so I make sure the quick options during the day are healthy—mostly fresh fruits, vegetables and yogurt during the day and grilled chicken or fish for dinner.

What are examples of your cheat foods that are actually healthy?

Red wine and chocolate—both are household staples although I try to indulge modestly.

What is your biggest personal struggle with eating healthy?

I love bread and even though I’m not officially gluten-intolerant, gluten does make me feel sluggish and bloated. Even given that, bread often seems to be calling my name.

Tell us about your product, sharing why my readers should check it out- talk about the results and benefits your product or service provides.

We receive incredibly supportive feedback about  The Autism File magazine. Although vaccine injury is significant—I truly believe most of us wouldn’t be studying and writing about developmental disorders were it not for a poorly studied and needlessly aggressive vaccine program—we know that no matter the cause, life goes on for the children and families affected by autism and other neurological disorders.

The Autism File covers a wide range of topics to help parents and caregivers make informed decisions on behalf of their loved ones with autism including education, building language and social skills, housing options, employment, wandering preventions, working with law enforcement, research, therapies, treatments, and more.

The World Mercury Project is working hard to eliminate exposures to mercury on a global basis. As mercury is the most toxic non-radioactive substance on the planet, it has no place in vaccines, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics. It just makes no sense to continue using mercury in any form of manufacturing that results in human exposure.

Who was your most intriguing interview with and why?

That would have to be a tie between Vaxxed producer Del Bigtree and World Mercury Project board chair Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Neither of these men have a dog in the fight yet have risked their careers and reputations to speak the truth on vaccine injury and a corrupt government and complicit media who allow the perception of vaccines as “safe and effective” to continue. They both spoke eloquently and passionately about the need for transparency in vaccine research and the ways in which government and industry have compromised the media to guide public perception.

What is the best advice ever given to you?

My mother always encouraged me to listen to my instincts and to act based upon what my heart and conscience tell me is right.
