Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

These cookies are my favorite! I am actually a chocolate chip cookie lover and this goes back to my mom and aunt making warm and scrumptious homemade cookies. I even use to love the store bought Chips Ahoy. They are even better dunked in glass of almond milk.

However, as I got older I realized how unhealthy these delicious cookies can be. Yet no matter how much I tried to ignore my chocolate craving, I still wanted chocolate chip cookies. When I did the leaky gut program to overcome my IBS, I knew cutting my sugar craving was key, but I also waned to make sure the program satisfied that craving in a healthy manner.

Since I am Queen of swapping a bad recipe for a good one, I was able to not only cut my sugar craving, but bake a yummy healthy leaky gut chocolate chip cookie. The best part of this cookie is it is guilt free. When you realize you ate like 4 cookies, you don’t feel so bad when you remind yourself all you ate was banana, oatmeal and a few GMO free chocolate chips! My patients LOVE these as well as my kids, their friends and most of all, their friends’ parents!

I use these chips here because they are GMO, dairy, soy and nut free. I also prefer certified organic oatmeal like this one here. I don’t use gluten free because gluten is not a leaky gut trigger for me, but I strongly advise you use gluten free oatmeal if gluten is a trigger for you.

So here it is…

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup dry oatmeal (gluten free if trigger)
  • 1/4 cup GMO free mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350. In a bowl mash and mix bananas and oatmeal well. Once mixed, add in chocolate chips and lightly mix. On cookie sheet with teaspoon, drop cookie dough just like you would with real cookie dough. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes.
